A resounding public thanks to Alan Smurthwaite, who conducted Douglas and my wedding on Midsummers day. Everyone who attended was most impressed and glad to have been present : Alan contributed dignity and humour to our unique moment. It was the first wedding at Eden Court theatre, but I'm sure will not be the last!

Joe Hughes gave a great service for my mum in 2001 and then in 2006 for my dad he mentioned a poem called "Wullie Stewart".
I was wondering if anybody knows the poem or the author could they email me. Any reply can be sent to admin@humanism-scotland.org.uk who will pass the message on to BRENDA |

To Thank Tim Maguire
You really got my Dad, and delivered a service he would have been proud off. I think we caught some of the audience on the hop, those who were expecting it to be doom and gloom. Everyone we spoke to said it was uplifting to go to a funeral that was about the person, and we heard a number of versions of “That’s how it should be” One of my dads mates said “that’s the best show I’ve been to, we wanted to clap” actually most people said they wanted to clap. The family will have a great void in our lives without our Dad, but doing him proud is and immense help in coping with our loss. Thank you so much Angela |

Gary and I would like to thank Mary Wallace for our wonderful wedding ceremony which was so personal and meaningful to us both. Mary is a wonderful celebrant who brought her own blend of meaning, humour and personality to our wedding. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Mary and feel we were married by someone who we both knew and liked. The words we spoke on the day are remembered by us both as we travel on through life's journey - we love being married to each other - so long may the journey continue!!

Nick, Alison, Caroline, Melissa and Rhiannon Dawson would like to thank Celebrants Alan Smurthwaite and Mairi Ross for the perfect ceremony they performed at Inverness for the late Mary Dawson. Life is not a rehearsal and should be embraced right to the end. She would have enjoyed it!

There is NO religion which is based on FACT and the world would be a safer place without religion.

This is a thank you to Ron McLaren who conducted my husband's funeral. I just wanted to write to thank him for the wonderful celebration he prepared for Rod on Monday. Everyone I have spoken to has commented how personal it was to Rod and how unique the whole ceremony was. It was a great comfort to us all as a family to know Rod was so respected and loved and while it is early days, we are trying to pick up the pieces and carry on as he would have wanted.

I disagree with my fellow American below. The UK seems a very NON-religious place from where Im looking and that is the reason Im surprised to find people bothering to join a humanist society. Anyways this is a really nice site and I wish you all the best.
